Kennametal Blast Ninja abrasive blast nozzle reduces noise while maintaining particle velocity

Kennametal Inc. has introduced Blast Ninja abrasive blast nozzles for surface preparation. Designed by Oceanit, the nozzle reduces air exit velocity while maintaining particle velocity, which significantly reduces noise production at the source while maintaining blasting production.

Offering enhanced hearing protection, the proprietary technology uses years of research conducted on jet engine noise reduction and was developed along with the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory and the U.S. Navy’s Office of Naval Research. Compared to conventional venturi nozzles (outputting 115 dB), the nozzle has quieter noise output by up to 17 dB.

According to the company, in proper conditions, the nozzle can meet OSHA’s noise standard compliance 29 CFR 1910.95 of four hours of exposure.
