NEE cleaning process also performs electropolishing and passivation

NEE has developed a cleaning process that removes weld scale and oxides evenly while subsequently electropolishing and passivating surfaces. The process produces a reflective finish that helps improve corrosion resistance. High points and microburrs are removed, reducing the surface roughness by up to 40 percent.

Electropolishing meets and exceeds the passivation requirements of ASTM B 912, ASTM A 967, QQ-P-35-C, and ASTM A 380, the company says. The process can handle parts and fabrications up to 8 ft. long and 4 ft. dia.
