SMW Autoblok’s 5-sided machining vises require small clamping surface

SMW Autoblok offers the Genius and Sintex precision vises for 5-axis machine tools. Both vises are equipped with the company’s proprietary SinterGrip technology. On the Sintex vise, this technology requires only 0.14 in. of clamping surface, allowing for obstruction-free processing of all five sides of the workpiece and minimized deformation risk.

A series of solid-carbide serrated inserts grip the workpiece so that vibration is nearly nonexistent. This stability allows for higher cutting speed and feed rates, the company reports.

The Genius vise uses traction clamping to grip the workpiece, generating clamping force of up to almost 30,000 ft.-lbs. at the part and providing enough stability to be used for high-precision milling operations. The Sintex self-centering vise is compact, with an opening range up to 5.9 in. and repeatable accuracy of +/- 0.01.
