Cylinder-actuated Transporter magnet from Industrial Magnetics transfers parts, stampings from press to press

Industrial Magnetics Inc.’s patented Transporter^® magnetically transfers metal blanks, stampings, and parts in automated station-to-station, press-to-press transfer or robotic pick-and-place applications. It is engineered with rare-earth magnets that hold the part during transfer.

The cylinder-actuated magnet reduces the chance for slipping and shifting of parts because of mill oil coatings, dust, dirt, rust, and weld splatter. It also provides options for pick-up points on stamped, perforated, and odd-shaped parts offers a reduction in shop air costs compared to vacuum and suction cups. The magnet provides accurate placement on the die and quick cycle times for increased production, the company reports.

Each magnet is million-cycle-tested for endurance and incorporates a fail-safe feature that prevents it from releasing ferrous parts in the event of air loss, the manufacturer states.
