AMBA RH 08 cold-forms hollow tube ends simultaneously

Aachener Maschinenbau GmbH (AMBA) has developed the RH 08 synchronous cold forming machine, which forms both hollow tube ends simultaneously. With a cycle time of one second, this operation ensures that during forming, both hollow ends stay aligned with each other. The hollow sections leave the machine ready to be installed, requiring no additional machining.

The first machine of this type, developed for an automotive component manufacturer, is designed with upsetting force of up to 25 t at either end, enabling the machine to process steel and stainless steel hollows with up to 20-mm OD. The two forming stations arranged in the axial direction of the workpiece feature fully automatic, high-precision positioning systems, which allow processing of hollows from 450 to 800 mm long.
