KMT H5 SA band saw delivers accurate vertical cuts in structural steel

The Kalamazoo Machine Tool model H5 SA semiautomatic, double-column band saw can produce accurate vertical cuts that meet the standards for up to W18 structural steel I-beams and girders, states the company. The saw features a heavy steel welded and normalized frame to help ensure vibration-free sawing in a variety of structural, solid, and difficult materials and long blade life at high production rates, the manufacturer reports.

The machine miters 0 to 60 degrees both left and right, and the 6-degree canted head is counterbalanced for mitering in both directions. The scale is large for readability at any angle. The blade guides are heavy carbide blocks with large-diameter rollers to help ease the saw blade through the guide assemblies. All slideways are done on linear guides with recirculating ball bearings to provide frictionless, vibration-free travel.
