Grieve inert atmosphere bench furnace used for heat treating

Grieve has built No. 1044, a 2,000-degrees-F, inert atmosphere bench furnace currently used for heat treating at a customer’s facility. The furnace is 12 by 18 by 8 in. and has 6 kW installed in nickel chrome wire coils supported by ceramic plates.

The bench furnace features 5-in.-thick insulated walls comprising 1 in. of 2,600-degrees-F ceramic fiber, 1 in. of 2,300-degrees-F ceramic fiber, and 3 in. of 1,900-degrees-F block insulation. Features include a vertical lift door with gas spring counterbalance, a continuously welded outer shell, a high-temperature door gasket, sealed heater terminal boxes, and inert atmosphere inlet and outlet.
