Modular rotary encoders offered

The ERO 2000 series encoder is available from Heidenhain. The high-speed, high-resolution rotary encoder has a compact design, excellent signal quality for high interpolation rates, and excellent thermal position stability, the company states.

The encoder currently is available as a scanning unit and two types of scales. The scanning heads come with a 1-V peak-to-peak analog interface, with a TTL digital version planned. Interpolation up to TTL x 2,000 is a possibility. Position noise is measured to +/- 0.04 in. (arc seconds).

The two types of scales contain a 20-micron graduation with a full circle and segment of a circle. For the circular scale, a disk with 2,500 lines per revolution with a 0.75-in. OD. is available. The segment-shaped scale is lighter in weight, as portions of the glass disk have been removed to shape the scale into its rectangular form.
