Starrett AV450 automatic vision system suited for large-part inspection

The L.S. Starrett Co. has introduced its AV450 automatic vision system. The 3-axis system is suitable for both repetitive, large part-run applications and routine quality assurance.

Featuring an X,Y, Z measuring envelope of 18 by 14 by 8 in., the system has high-resolution video zoom optics and can be preprogrammed (CNC) for repetitive part inspection or driven manually via a trackball for individual measurements. Either QC5000 or MetLogix™ M3 software controls video edge detection and multiple-channel fiber-optic or LED illumination.

Accuracy is 2.5 + 5L/1,000 and reading resolution is 4 µin. Magnification on a 24-in. monitor, 1-to-1 pixel setting, is 37x to 240x with a 6.5-to-1 zoom and 25x to 300x with a 12-to-1 zoom. The system has a 1.3-megapixel color digital video camera and a granite base.
