Sheet leveling/cutting line saves time for storage tank maker

Situation
Farck SPA, located in the Italian province of Cremona, specializes in the design, construction, and installation of plants, machinery, and storage tanks for the food industry.
The company was looking to increase quality and productivity while expanding its range of work. It wanted a production line that would allow it to produce flattened sheets independently with the desired bending diameter and cut lengths for manufacturing tanks of various sizes. This would eliminate the need to purchase commercial-length sheets and then cut or weld them together.
Resolution
Farck chose to work with MG S.r.l., a manufacturer of plate and section bending machines and straightening machines, to develop a highly specialized, custom-designed and -built system. It includes the latest version of MG S.r.l.’s Touch Command EVO 4.0, a closed-loop plate bending machine CNC.
A metal coil is unwound from a reel. The deformed sheet then is inserted into the 2-meters-wide straightening machine, which uses 11 motorized rollers to perform an alternating plastic deformation process. This eliminates any curvature and corrugation in the sheet.
The sheet then is expelled from the leveling machine and inserted into a shear, which cuts the sheet to the required length. A motorized support table then receives the flattened, cut sheet, and an automated suction cup loader stacks the final product on the appropriate storage pallets.MG S.r.l.
