Optical locating system determines workpiece point locations for abrasive waterjet
- December 4, 2015
- Product Release
- Waterjet Cutting
OMAX® Corp. offers the Precision Optical Locator for setup of premachined parts that are ready for secondary abrasive waterjet cutting operations. The video/optical locating system determines workpiece point locations anywhere on an abrasive waterjet machine’s worktable to eliminate the use of dial indicator-type devices.
The unit locates reference points on a precut part, such as existing holes and edges, when additional cutting will be done with the waterjet. Using these reference points, the software can rotate the part’s toolpath to match its exact orientation on the table and automatically set the cutting home position for precision alignment without manual measurement.
The locator incorporates a USB camera with a microscope lens, providing digital zoom and full-screen view capabilities. Users can also store video images of point locations for quality control records or to reverse engineer parts or digitize locations via the company’s Layout CAD system.
