More than 50,000 attendees from 120 countries visited the welding and cutting show in late September

When people think of Germany in the fall, most often they envision Oktoberfest, considered to be the world’s largest beer festival and fair. But every four years Germany is also home to Schweissen & Schneiden, a welding and cutting trade fair that draws equipment manufacturers and attendees from all over the world.
The show, hosted by Messe Essen GmbH and cooperation partner German Welding Society, had more than 50,000 attendees from 120 countries during the event that ran Sept. 25-29, 2017. More than 1,000 global manufacturers, spread out through seven halls at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Center, showcased everything from welding wire, electrodes, and basic hand tools to welding power sources, cutting tables, operating systems, and deburring units.
This exhibition truly showcases just how big the welding industry is. While there are plenty of familiar faces with equipment on display, many exhibiting companies have little to no presence here in the U.S.
Here’s a snapshot of what we saw.
