Appleton, Wis.-based Miller Electric Mfg., a manufacturer of arc welding equipment, is celebrating its 90th anniversary by providing 90 scholarships for welding students in 2020. The company and the American Welding Society (AWS) Foundation will award each winning student with a $2,000 scholarship to support their welding education.

"Our 90th anniversary scholarship program is a natural partnership between Miller and the AWS Foundation," Miller Electric Group President Becky Tuchscherer said. "Both organizations are separately and collectively committed to the development of the welding industry. By partnering together, we are able to reach more students and make a greater financial impact to build the future of our industry."

Students 18 years and older who are currently enrolled in a full-time welding education program are eligible for this scholarship. Applicants must have a high school diploma (or proof of graduation eligibility) and a GPA of 2.5 or higher and must be a citizen of the U.S. Applications can be submitted until March 1, 2020, at scholarship.aws.org.

"Earning a quality education is an investment in a student’s future," Tuchscherer added. "However, the financial strain of formal instruction can be a barrier to some. Our goal is to help alleviate some of that burden and allow students to pursue the schooling that will help make them successful in this industry. Together, Miller and the AWS Foundation are proud to provide financial support to the welders of tomorrow by making their dreams a reality while also supporting our industry at the same time."
