Practical Welding Today relaunched as The WELDER

FMA Communications (FMAC), Elgin, Ill., has announced that its publication Practical Welding Today has become The WELDER, a relaunch with new features, a new look, and a new focus on the welder. The first issue to reflect the changes is the September/October issue. The publication will maintain its current subscriber base as well as its bimonthly frequency.

Subscribers will have more opportunities to participate in The WELDER’s media brand. “Welding Hacks,” for example, lets subscribers submit their own fixes from the field in a “wisdom of crowds” approach. Subscribers also can expect to see more case studies.

Online, viewers will continue to see such highlights as videos and webinars. New to the site will be a gallery of projects and a collection of Welding Hacks, many of which do not appear in print.

“Welders are passionate about their craft,” said Amanda Carlson, editor of The WELDER. “We spend a lot of time with our readers, and we know that they are very creative and proud of what they do. These changes reflect the spirit of our subscribers. And the content is more practical than ever.”

Additionally, advertisers will gain from new lead-generation programs across all media touched by The WELDER. “We’re excited about the brand,” said Dave Brambert, group publisher of FMAC. “We get positive feedback from our subscribers on a regular basis, and this builds on what we know about the welder.

“Our go-to-market strategy is threefold: knowledge, power, and engagement,” Brambert continued. “We know who these people are, what kind of purchasing power they have, and how engaged they are with our brand. We are very excited to improve how we serve both readers and advertisers.”
