Weld Mold marks 70 years in business
Weld Mold Co., Brighton, Mich., celebrates 70 years in business in 2015. Founded by Matt Kiilunen in 1945, the company manufactures high-alloy welding electrodes, as well as cored-wire and solid-wire products, from NiCrMo and high-chrome hotwork alloys to high-nickel and cobalt alloys to chrome carbide and chrome manganese alloys. Kiilunen was responsible for initiating the development of many of these products.
Today the company manufactures more than 3,000 custom electrodes and wire products for welding and forge welding. In addition to its Brighton office, the firm has locations in China and Korea.
