Lincoln Electric executive VP retires

Cleveland-based Lincoln Electric Holdings Inc. has announced the retirement of George D. Blankenship, executive vice president, president Americas Welding segment. Christopher L. Mapes, chairman and president/CEO, will oversee the Americas Welding organization until an internal successor to Blankenship is named.

Blankenship joined the company in 1985 as an engineering trainee and held various engineering and product development management positions until 2009, when he was promoted to senior vice president and president North America. In 2016 he was named executive vice president and president of Americas Welding.

Lincoln Electric is a manufacturer of arc welding products; automated joining, assembly, and cutting systems; plasma and oxyfuel cutting equipment; and brazing and soldering alloys.
