EWM’s Titan XQ 400 AC puls designed for aluminum welding

EWM has introduced the Titan XQ 400 AC puls for GMAW of aluminum. The water-cooled welding machine, suitable for manual and automated welding, can join extremely thin sheet without the molten metal falling through and with reduced distortion, the company reports.

The welding current alternates during the process sequence between positive and negative polarity, which helps make the arc easy to control. It can bridge large air gaps, even during automated applications. The new process leaves behind barely any traces of smoke; the weld seam is clean and shiny because of the highly reduced magnesium oxide, according to the manufacturer.

Options include a wire spool heater, electronic gas flow control, and wire reserve sensor.
