Fronius Vizor Connect welding helmet communicates with power source via Bluetooth

Fronius has developed the Vizor Connect welding helmet, which communicates with a power source via Bluetooth. Using the manufacturer’s PreTrigger technology, the power source sends a signal to the welding helmet as soon as the user presses the on button on the welding torch, allowing the helmet to darken before the arc is ignited. The helmet also eliminates the problem of interference from external light and darkens even in demanding welding situations to help ensure safety and comfort, the company reports.
The autodarkening filter cartridge remains in place even at the lowest currents and if the arc is concealed and in constrained positions, as long as the arc is burning. The level of protection applicable to the welding process is adjusted automatically between DIN 5 and DIN 12. In this way, the darkness level is adapted to arc intensity at all times. The welder also can switch to manual mode and adjust the darkness infinitely as required.
When the helmet is not darkened, it provides a clear view with a brightness level of 2.5, as well as real-color perception delivered by a UV and infrared filter. The autodarkening filter cartridge with nose cutout gives the welder an unobstructed line of sight and adds to wearer comfort. The shape increases the field of view up to six times and reduces the weight of the helmet.
