A San Diego, Calif., producer of metal and plastic parts, GoProto, has reached deeper into digital manufacturing with the acquisition of two Australian companies: 3D Systems Asia Pacific, an on-demand service bureau, and WYSIWYG 3D, a 3D scanning company.

The move, according to GoProto, whose services include model making, rapid prototyping, 3D printing, urethane casting, CNC machining, injection molding, stamping, die casting, and finishing, makes it the largest digital manufacturer in the Australian market.

The former 3D Systems service bureau was commissioned two years ago and houses a full range of its production-ready 3D printers and a full management and operations team.

Besides the Australian acquisitions, the California company added two HP 5210 Multi Jet Fusion printers to its North American facility. They supplement its existing six 4200 MJF printers and increase production capacity at the location by approximately 50%.
