Burloak Technologies Inc. has met The Boeing Co.’s BAC 5673 specification, allowing it to additively manufacture aluminum AlSi10Mg components for the aircraft manufacturer.

The Oakville, Ont., AM company says it is the world’s first additive manufacturer to earn this qualification.

“This approval marks the completion of a qualification process that included a rigorous evaluation of Burloak’s capabilities by Boeing,” said Burloak’s founder and chief innovation officer, Peter Adams. “Together, we developed a well-defined specification that has demonstrated robust, repeatable processes to produce flight components using additive manufacturing.”

Boeing and Burloak, a division of Samuel, Son & Co. Ltd., are working to apply the BAC 5673 specification to other components.
