Optomec acquires fellow builder of 3D printers

Optomec and Huffmann both sell metal printers based on LENS technology.

Optomec Inc. has purchased Huffmann, a Clover, S.C., supplier of 3D-metal printers and software used by the aerospace and energy sectors.

Optomec, based in Albuquerque, sells production-grade additive systems.

The acquisition combines Optomec’s broad reach across a range of industries and hundreds of customers with Huffman’s deep penetration in the gas turbine market. The synergies extend to complementary product portfolios and technical expertise, which together sets the stage for accelerated growth of both businesses, reports Optomec.
