Siemens Energy and Zeiss have formed a joint venture called MakerVerse, an on-demand manufacturing service bureau. The industrial technology leaders will be joined in the effort by the venture-capital firm 9.5 Ventures.

The aim of launching the new company, based in Berlin, is to offer a one-stop fulfillment platform that connects industrial clients with a global network of certified additive manufacturing suppliers.

Initially, MakerVerse will 3D-print and postprocess polymer and metal parts. Other processes, such as CNC machining, injection-molding, and sheet metal forming, will be added in the near future.

Features of the platform include instant quoting, automated manufacturability checks, streamlined supplier and quality management, and industrial-level quality assurance. The platform is scheduled to launch in mid-2022, and the company initially will focus on the European market.
