Kristin Mulherin has been named president of the seven-year-old nonprofit Women in 3D Printing.

Women in 3D Printing (Wi3DP) is celebrating seven years of operation with a big step forward: a new president.

Kristin Mulherin assumes the top position, succeeding Wi3DP’s founder, Nora Touré, who has led the organization since its inception in 2014.

Mulherin has deep roots in the additive manufacturing industry. She held leadership positions at HP and Dyndrite, in addition to founding the 3D printing consultancy AM-Cubed. She served as the ambassador of Wi3DP’s Portland, Ore., chapter and sits on the board of directors.

The nonprofit Wi3DP has grown from a series of blogs posted by Touré into a global organization with more than 23,000 members and 80 chapters in 36 countries.

“I’m extremely proud of the work we’ve achieved over the past seven years,” said Touré. “Now is a time when we need to think about the next steps for our organization as our team has grown and our programs have evolved. Kristin, as one of our first ambassadors and a director for two-plus years, has shown tremendous talent and appetite for structuring Wi3DP into a sustainable and scalable organization.”
