ExOne launches online calculator for determining cost of metal 3D printing

A new tool from ExOne compares the cost of binder-jetting a metal part on one of the company’s Pro 3D printers to the cost of making the part via a traditional manufacturing process or other additive method.

The Production Metal Cost Calculator is available at the ExOne website and reportedly requires just a few easy inputs—material, machine, part dimensions, and number of parts to make. The cost of the binder-jetted part is based on the purchase price of any of the company’s four styles of Pro printers.

The new estimating tool takes a comprehensive range of costs into account, such as initial capital investment, throughput speeds, material, binder, and replacement printheads.
