New additive manufacturing system from Arburg

The new Freeformer 300-3X is based on Arburg GmbH’s patented Freeforming technology. Like the earlier-generation 200-3X, it is an industrial AM system that builds parts directly from 3D CAD data by forming layers comprised of droplets of standard plastic granules.

The German company, a longtime builder of injection-molding machines that has offices in California, Connecticut, and Illinois, recommends the 300-3X for one-offs and small batches of parts. It features a 300-square-centimeter part carrier and can print parts up to 234 by 134 by 200 millimeters.

The 300-3X produces parts having up to three components—in combinations of hard and soft materials--with support structures.

Arburg plans to display the Freeformer 300-3X and 200-3X at the TCT Asia trade show Feb. 21-23, 2019, in Shanghai, China.
