Software allows 3-D CAD to be embedded in PDF document

Theorem Solutions has developed Publish 3D, a software application that allows 3-D CAD to be embedded into a PDF document, alongside associated metadata such as part descriptions, part numbers, detailed drawings, and proposed changes, to create a 3-D PDF.

Using the 3-D PDF, engineers can pass CAD data to anyone within the inspection team who has access to Adobe® Reader. The recipients can break the geometry down into different cross sections and review individual elements of the component through data filtering. Views can be annotated and measurements checked to aid the inspection process. Additionally, supporting information can be attached to the 3-D PDF, such as spreadsheets, hyperlinks, and drawings, so the document becomes a container (like a zip file) to give a clear overview.
