Kilgore Economic Development Corp. invests in welding education

Kilgore Economic Development Corp., Kilgore, Texas, has contributed $80,000 to buy state-of-the-art equipment at the new dual-credit welding facility in Kilgore High School.

The dual-credit program is a natural complement to another KEDC workforce initiative, the Advanced Technology Center, which houses the Kilgore College Advanced Welding Academy. Based on input from numerous sources and sectors throughout the community, the 24,000-sq.-ft. facility, owned by Kilgore EDC and staffed by Kilgore College instructors, is set to deliver a customized job training program to prepare workers with the advanced skills needed by the area metal fabrication industry.
