Quality Metalcraft moves into lighting design with new art exhibition

January 17, 2013

Quality Metalcraft Inc., a Livonia, Mich.-based automotive parts and prototype supplier, is lead sponsor of a new arts installation in Detroit's Kunsthalle Detroit Museum of Contemporary Art.

STALA Universe brings together video, light, and music to highlight Detroit's industrial design and manufacturing capabilities. STALA refers to an existing industrial light installation in Detroit’s North Corktown neighborhood. Quality Metalcraft manufactured hundreds of outdoor sidewalk lights, designed to resemble stalagmite formations, using technologies it has developed for low-volume automotive fabrication. The company also fabricated the installation grid.

"For Detroit to survive as a major manufacturing center with high-paying jobs, we must continue to apply our technologies outside of traditional automotive applications," said Michael Chetcuti, CEO of Quality Metalcraft.
