Mittal Steel appoints CEO, Lazaro Cardenas operation

Mittal Steel Co. today announced that it has appointed P. S. Venkataramanan as CEO of Mittal Steel Lazaro Cardenas in Mexico.

Venkataramanan has worked for Mittal Steel since 1993, when he joined Lazaro Cardenas (then Ispat Mexicana) as manager, sales and marketing. He spent 10 years in Mexico, rising to director, marketing, where he was responsible for overseeing and implementing the company's sales strategy and building long-term relationships with customers. During this period, Lazaro Cardenas grew from being a 1 million ton to a 3. 5 million ton producer.

Venkataramanan was appointed vice president, sales and marketing at Mittal Canada in 2004. Before joining the company, he worked for the Steel Authority of India in various sales and marketing positions.
