Salvagnini marks 40th anniversary of panel bender

Salvagnini, Hamilton, Ohio, marks the 40th anniversary of the invention of its first P4 panel bender. On Sept. 19, 1977, the first Salvagnini patent was awarded for a machine entitled “Machine for the production of rectangular sheet metal panels with bent edges,” invented in suburban Milan, Italy, by Guido Salvagnini.

The original panel bender brought flexibility and automation to the bending process using a single bending tool, a pair of counterblades, a sheet manipulator, and a mechanical programmer to orchestrate sheet and bending movements.
