Teeing off for a good cause

The Outside Processors Council (OPC) is hosting its Annual Scholarship Golf Classic Oct. 11-12, 2007, at the Marietta Conference Center & Resort near sunny Atlanta, Ga.

The golf outing will raise revenues for the OPC Scholarship Fund, which awards a $5,000 scholarship annually through the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association Foundation (FMAF). With the challenge of attracting talented young people entering the work force to manufacturing, the OPC Scholarship is an added inducement to consider metal forming and fabricating as a career choice.

Eligibility for the scholarship is open to OPC members, their spouses, and their children who are interested in pursuing higher education (trade school, college, or university) related to coil processing or metal fabricating and forming. Last year, Ben Eilerman, a mechanical engineering student at The Ohio State University, became the council's first scholarship recipient. Congratulations, Benjamin!

The Council gratefully acknowledges the following scholarship sponsors to date: All Metals Inc., Olympic Steel Inc., and Precision Strip Inc. The organization looks to the industry for support for another well-attended event.

The Outside Processors Council (OPC) is an industrial association formed by interested parties in the metal processing business and serving customers that include metal producers, service centers, distribution companies, and original equipment manufacturers located primarily in the United States and Canada.
