U.S. durable goods orders rose 3.3 percent in August

New orders for manufactured durable goods in August increased $6.8 billion or 3.3 percent to $210.9 billion the U.S. Census Bureau announced today. This increase followed a 5.3 percent July decrease.

Nondefense new orders increased $3.0 billion or 4.3 percent to $74.3 billion. Defense new orders decreased $0.1 billion or 1.6 percent to $7.0 billion.
