Heidtman Steel expands service capabilities

Heidtman Steel, a supplier of steel products and services in Toledo, Ohio, has expanded processing capabilities at two of its facilities. The company has improved the pickle line at its Erie, Mich., location and has commissioned a new SMS Demag multiblanking line at its Butler, Ind., sheet division.

The multiblanking line handles strip thicknesses from 0.010 to 0.135 in. up to 72 in. wide. With a maximum length capacity of 240 in., the line can handle 80,000-lb. coils.

The pickling line now contains a Herr-Voss shape-correction unit, recently installed in front of its coating section, that provides precision shape correction up to 0.180 by 60 in. The line's pickling capacity is 0.400 by 60 in. with oil, dry lube, and prelube coating capabilities, as well as a Parsytec surface defect detection system.
