LMC adds automated turning cell

LMC Workholding, a provider of chucks, cylinders, and workholding devices, has added an automated turning cell to its production equipment at its Logansport, Ind., manufacturing facility. The new Mazak MY350 and FANUC Automation R2000-265kg turning cell and robot are used to load parts weighing up to 350 lbs. into the CNC lathe for machining, remove the parts, and place completed parts back on the loading pallet.

This job previously was done manually; now one operator can run up to four lathes with the help of the robot. The machine can run lights-out as needed. Working together, the robot and the lathe have the capacity to run more than 5,000 parts per month.
