Greer Steel completes major capital improvement initiative

Cold-rolled strip steel manufacturer Greer Steel Co. has completed a series of capital improvements undertaken in the past 18 months at its Dover, Ohio, plant and service center.

The most recent improvements include increasing the packing line capacity, installing an oscillating line for small service center runs, upgrading the 18-in. reversing mill with software and hydraulic improvements, upgrading the 20-in. temper mill to minimize rejects and eliminate potential surface defects, and upgrading the dual-head slitting line for coils up to 63 in. dia.

Additional infrastructure upgrades include crane enhancements and roofing projects.
