Swedish Steel Prize 2005 winner announced
- January 10, 2006
- News Release
- Metals/Materials
SSAB Swedish Steel, Stockholm, has named CMT the Swedish Steel Prize 2005 recipient. CMT specializes in hooklift containers for use in road transport.
The panel chose the winner based on the choice of material, a thought-out design, and efficient production methods that have resulted in products that offer great economic and environmental benefits.
CMT maximizes the strength and hardness of high-strength steel in its products. This results in containers characterized by low weight, high wear resistance, and good profitability for its customers.
Three runner-up prizes were awarded to Dura Automotive Body & Glass Systems, Germany, for a type of side collision protection beam for cars; Hardi Evrard S.A., France, for a self-propelled agricultural sprayer; and Shape Corp., U.S., for a car bumper concept. Honorable mention was awarded to V.N Automoveis S.A., Portugal, for its body for light trucks.
The objective of the Swedish Steel Prize is to commend and draw attention to innovative design ideas and products in which high-strength steels are used. The prize was founded by SSAB Tunnplt.
