U.S. Steel Corp. to shut down Ontario facility
United States Steel Corp. has announced the impending shutdown of its Hamilton, Ont., iron- and steel-making facility.
The company estimates that the closure, which will be complete by the end of 2013, will reduce costs by $50 million a year. Its coke batteries at Gary Works in Indiana also will close.
