Hypertherm receives EPA’s 2015 Green Power Leadership Award

Hanover, N.H.-based Hypertherm, a U.S.-based manufacturer of plasma, laser, and waterjet cutting systems, is a 2015 winner of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Green Power Leadership Award in recognition of its commitment to using green energy and its support of green power usage in the community at large.

Hypertherm is one of 11 organizations nationwide to receive a Leadership Award in the Green Power Purchase category. In selecting recipients, the EPA evaluates partners who have distinguished themselves through the purchase of green power, defined as zero-emissions electricity generated from environmentally preferable renewable resources. These resources include wind, solar, geothermal, biogas, eligible biomass, and low-impact hydropower.

In 2014 Hypertherm fulfilled 100 percent of its domestic energy requirements with the purchase of more than 18 million kWh of green power—enough to power 2,000 American homes for a year.

Hypertherm has an array of environmental sustainability goals it plans to meet by 2020. Those goals include producing zero landfill waste, improving the energy efficiency of its global operations by 30 percent, and reducing the carbon impact of its products by 20 percent.
