Orchid Intl. facility reaches safety milestone

On May 14, Orchid Intl.'s Gordonsville, Tenn., assembly facility celebrated achieving one year of operation without a lost-time accident by providing cookouts for all three shifts.

Feeling that there was room for improvement in its safety program and lost-time accidents, the plant implemented a Zero Incidents program designed to focus on each employee's responsibility for ensuring individual and co-worker safety. The program involved incentives and challenges. According to Plant Manager Ron Hall, "The key was to make the program both educational and fun something everyone would want to work together to achieve."
