AT&F upgrades Wisconsin facility

AT&F has announced recent upgrades to its Manitowoc, Wis., facility, including a new plasma and oxyfuel cutting table with a 5-axis beveling head and improvements to a large-capacity boring bar. In addition to the equipment upgrades, the firm has added a certified weld inspector.

The new cutting machine can plasma-cut material up to 2 in. thick and oxyfuel-cut material up to 8 in. thick. The cutting table’s envelope is 10 by 33 ft., making it suitable for the company’s typically large product scale. Capable of extreme precision, the machine reduces or eliminates the need for secondary operations, including hand beveling or long-cycle rough machining.

The entire 60,000-sq.-ft. facility layout has been redesigned to improve work flow and reduce cost, says the company. The 60-ton crane capacity with almost 25 ft. of hook height enables the facility to carry out heavy jobs safely. The plant also features a floor bar that can hold and machine a part up to 51 ft. long, 16 ft. wide, and 20 ft. tall.
