AWS releases new resistance welding standards

The American Welding Society (AWS) has announced that it is releasing two brand-new resistance welding standards. The first, AWS D8.1M:2007, Specification for Automotive Weld Quality—Resistance Spot Welding of Steel, establishes acceptance criteria for welds in the auto industry. An upcoming standard on aerospace welding, AWS D17.2/D17.2M:2007, Specification for Resistance Welding for Aerospace Applications, covers resistance spot and resistance seam welding of aluminum, magnesium, iron, nickel, cobalt, and titanium-based alloys used in aviation and space manufacturing.

A catalog listing all AWS standards and other documents is available for download from the AWS Web site.
