Committee recommends $50,000 for Rogue Mfg.

The Citizens Review Committee of Grand Island, Neb., has voted to recommend $50,000 of business incentives for local start-up Rogue Mfg. The request will advance to the Grand Island City Council for final approval of the Local Option Municipal Economic Development Program funds, also known as LB840 funds.

Rogue Mfg. was founded in 2009 in a 5,000-sq.-ft. building. The company since has expanded to a 15,000-sq.-ft. former airport hangar to accommodate full production, packaging, and shipping of personal fitness trampolines for Needak Rebounders of O'Neill, Neb. Rogue makes about 600 trampolines a month.

The company has determined it is ready to venture out for more clients and will need an exhaust system in the hangar to accommodate welding on galvanized steel if it wants to gain the new business.

The review committee recommended that Rogue be given a $35,000 infrastructure grant to install the exhaust equipment. It also recommended a $15,000 forgivable loan to create five new jobs with an average wage of $13.50 an hour.
