- Shop Management
The Expanded Metal Manufacturers Association (EMMA), a division of the National Association of Architectural Metal Manufacturers (NAAMM), Glen Ellyn, Ill., will hold its fall conference at the Radisson Hotel in Chicago from Nov. 3 to Nov. 5.
The organization plans to extend invitations to any North American expanded metal manufacturer interested in becoming a member. A press conference will be held on Nov. 4. Membership information is available at 630-942-6591, and reservations for the press conference are available through Cassidy Advertising & Consulting LLC at 330-544-9996.
NAAMM represents a range of metal products used primarily in commercial and industrial building and construction, and EMMA promotes the use of expanded metal products through technical information and new-product development. The current EMMA members are Alabama Metal Industries Corp., Birmingham, Ala.; Exmet Industries Inc., Vancouver, British Columbia; Expanded Solutions LLC, Oklahoma City; Fisher & Ludlow, Burlington, Ontario; New Metals Inc., Laredo, Texas; Niles Expanded Metals & Plastics, Niles, Ohio; and Spantek Expanded Metal, Hopkins, Minn.
Expanded metal is manufactured from sheet metal that is slit and stretched into a non-raveling unit of uniformed openings, allowing air, fluid, and light to flow through. Available in several thicknesses, from micromesh to grating, it is used in applications such as enclosures, racks, shelving, fencing, security, and building facades. It is also available for architectural and decorative elements with nearly any type of metal, the organization reports.
