Free test determines viability of ultrasonic welding for metal joining processes

Sonobond Ultrasonics, West Chester, Pa., offers free, no-obligation ultrasonic metal welding viability testing. Companies send their similar or dissimilar nonferrous metals to Sonobond, which makes sample welds on its machines with the metals, allowing manufacturers to discover if the ultrasonic metal welding process is right for their applications.
To arrange for a sample weld, companies can visit www.sonobondultrasonics.com and click on Ultrasonic Welding Viability Test. They then complete a short form with basic information, to which the manufacturer responds upon receipt.
"We're often able to determine upfront whether an application seems feasible. If we believe it is, we let the company know the amount of materials required to prepare their sample welds. We also discuss details of their application with them, including the geometry and specifications of the finished weld," said Janet Devine, president. "Once everything is in place, the test itself can normally be completed within a week or so."
