GE to close Texas turbine manufacturing operations

General Electric has announced plans to close its turbine manufacturing operations in East Houston, Texas. The Channelview facility’s turbine servicing, engineering, and project operations functions will remain open.

According to the company, the extended downturn in the energy industry has decreased demand for the small turbines and generators used by the oil and gas industry for exploration and production.
