Hobart Institute of Welding Technology, Troy, Ohio, has announced the appointment of Rich Green to the newly created position of director of planning and development.
He is responsible for directing and coordinating activities related to establishing long-range strategic and annual plans and for product and business development. In this position, Green also provides oversight management for the technical training department, library, Web site, bookstore, and curriculum development.
Green was instrumental in establishing a business relationship between Edison Welding Institute (EWI) in Columbus, Ohio, and Hobart Institute through his involvement with education and training programs at EWI. For the past 15 years, he has been engaged as work force training manager at the Navy Joining Center and project manager at EWI.
Green established welder skill training programs at EWI, sponsored by industry and grants from the Ohio Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He was responsible for all aspects of that education program as teaching factory manager. He also has more than 20 years of experience in technical project management for both government and commercial clients.
