Jacobs awarded contract for Texas pipe manufacturing facility

Jacobs Eng. Group Inc., Pasadena, Calif., has been awarded a contract to provide project management consulting services for a new pipe rolling mill in Gregory, Texas, for Tianjin Pipe (Group) Corp. (TPCO), a manufacturer of seamless pipe in Tianjin, China. The total program value is estimated at about $1 billion.

Jacobs is expected to assist TPCO with the coordination and management of engineering, procurement, and construction for the mill, augmenting the internal capabilities and resources of TPCO and its Chinese associate engineering company, Capital Eng. & Research Inc. Ltd. (CERI). The facility design and construction are expected to be a multinational endeavor, including professional services, materials, and labor from the U.S., Europe, and China.

The new manufacturing facility is scheduled to be delivered with phased completions between December 2012 and the end of 2014. This project is TPCO's first major mill in the U.S.
