M3C program looking for Chicago-area manufacturers to host spring break interns

Chicago-based Manufacturing Renaissance has announced it is looking for Chicago-area companies to host spring break internships from April 18 to 22, 2016. The internships expose high schoolers to careers in manufacturing.

In the last five years, the Manufacturing Career & College Connect (M3C) program has facilitated nearly 250 paid internships for West Side youth in manufacturing, helping them earn more than 280 NIMS credentials and helping about 30 Austin Polytech graduates secure full-time employment.

Interns work for five days performing meaningful entry-level work, with hours set by the participating company. Workers’ compensation and salaries for the interns are covered by CPS. Participating companies are expected to help the interns complete the spring break internship binder and give them an opportunity during work hours to visit and learn about other departments.
