Manufacturers urge approval of Keystone XL pipeline legislation

National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Senior Vice President for Policy and Government Relations Aric Newhouse issued the following statement urging members of the House of Representatives to support H.R. 4340, which would require the approval of TransCanada’s permit to build the Keystone XL pipeline:

"This vote is another opportunity for Congress to move forward with the Keystone XL pipeline, which President Obama rejected three months ago. The swift approval of the Keystone XL pipeline is essential to securing more dependable and affordable sources of energy for manufacturers. Lower energy prices are directly tied to manufacturers’ ability to compete, grow and create jobs.

"By passing H.R. 4340, the House can move us closer to the creation of 20,000 manufacturing and construction jobs and the 118,000 spin-off jobs from Keystone XL. The facts are clear that Keystone XL is in the country's national interest. We ask all members of the House to support this bill to approve Keystone XL for affordable energy and jobs."
