Melitron to build solar inverters for Sustainable Energy Technologies

Melitron Corp., Guelph, Ont., has been selected by Sustainable Energy Technologies to provide contract manufacturing services required to build its SUNERGY™ solar inverter. Sustainable Energy Technologies is a designer, manufacturer, and distributor of power inverters for grid-connected solar PV systems.

Sustainable Energy Technologies will be locating its North American inverter manufacturing operations in Guelph. Melitron will operate the high-volume assembly and test facility and also will manufacture and supply enclosures for the inverter from its adjacent facility.

Production of the inverters at this facility will begin before the end of 2010. The company is targeting Canadian production of about 4 MW per month by the first quarter of 2011, with expansion capacity up to 8 to 10 MW per month by the end of 2011. The facility will serve Ontario and U.S. markets and will create new employment for 60 to 80 people at full capacity.
